During the season finale of ‘Orange is the new black,’ I stumbled across singer/songwriter LP (Laura Pergolizzi) as her song ‘Muddy Waters’ played in the background and completely drew me in!
The lyrics of this song describe my current state of emotions so perfectly, that painful feeling of being empty, in my case the yearning I have to find everlasting love that never seems to manifest. The heavy gospel harmonies are also reminiscent of Coolio ft. L.V’s “Gangsta’s Paradise,” which is one of my all time favorite songs, so it brought back a bit of nostalgia as well.
Laura has also written for artists including Rihanna, Christina Aguilera and Erik Hassle among others.
